Guatemalan Fresh Crop Cupping Exclusive
The team at Glen Lyon Coffee Roasters are delighted to invite you to a one-off opportunity to cup coffees with a producer and importer from Guatemala. Javier Gutierrez Abril, the owner of Caribbean Goods, is going to be joining us to showcase the range of fresh crop coffees that he has on offer this season.
As well as a chance to try coffees from a range of small producers, varietals and regions in Guatemala, Javier will be patching in the producer Nando Diaz (Cup of Excellence finalist) from the farm Santa Ana for a live chat and the chance to ask questions. Together they will explain the huge care that goes into every stage of the coffee production, such as the de-pulping and drying in the sun during the wet milling, to ensure the amazing cup quality that is typical of Guatemalan speciality coffees.
Glen Lyon Coffee has collaborated with Javier to launch a complex and creamy new delight from this farm: Bioreactor Fermented Natural Pacamara from Finca Amatillo. This micro-lot will be launched at this cupping event with very limited stocks and availability.
This event is free and numbers are limited so please order your free ticket now if you would like to along.
Cupping exclusive launch: Bioreactor Fermented Natural Pacamara from Finca Amatillo (Santa Anna)
Finca Amatillo is part of Santa Ana coffee farm near the village of Pueblo Nuevo Viñas, in the Region of Santa Rosa in Guatemala. The farm is nestled between the Tecuamburro and Pacaya volcanoes and for several years now has been a Glen Lyon favourite.
The owners of Finca Santa Ana, originally Roberto Díaz Marroquin and now run by his four children, mix planting coffee varieties such as Bourbon and Catuaí with native trees grown to shade the coffee and give an excellent taste and aroma. This combined with the volcanic soil, altitude and natural processing makes for a truly unique coffee with notes of Tropical Fruits, Citrus, Hibiscus and Turkish Delight.
