Hello Leyla,
Sorry that our Aeropress grind didn't meet your expectations! It's really difficult to match what people expect in terms of grind because everyone has slightly (or wildly) different recipes.
I recently did a big test of all of our grind settings and have updated them to how we brew in the roastery. Aeropress (if you use the upside-down brew method) and french press are both immersion brews so (technically) you can use almost any grind setting and then just vary your brew time to adjust the strength (total dissolved solids or TDS) in the cup. Increasing your regular brew time might help this bag of coffee be more up to your expectations.
If you order again feel free to select our moka pot grind (5 on our EK43 grinder rather than 7 for Aeropress) or just leave us a note in the cart/checkout that you'd like it slightly finer than our normal Aeropress grind. Our team are always good about watching out for notes.
If it helps, the recipe that I've decided on for the team is the following for a standard size Aeropress: 15g ground coffee, 240g total water (94C if you want to get into the nitty gritty), 1:16 ratio, 40g bloom for 45 sec, then fill to 240g and leave for 1:45 (don't stir, this can end immersion brewing for some weird reason), then add your filter, flip, and press. Try to finish pressing by about 2:15.
I do personally prefer a lighter brew from Aeropress so that we showcase more of the coffee's brighter notes, but that is just personal/team preference!
Anyway, please reach out to our team at info@glenlyoncoffee.co.uk if you have any questions or further issues.
Happy brewing,
Nick | Head of Front of House
