Gift cards can be used as a payment method for checkout orders containing subscription products. However if you are purchasing a recurring subscription you will still be required to provide a regular payment method at checkout to ensure that you are billed for recurring orders.

Yes, gift cards can be reloaded during the return and exchange process when the original transaction was processed with Shopify Payments. If Shopify Payments wasn’t used, then the gift card can't be reloaded and we will need to issue a new one.
