We stayed at a lodge in the Highlands that provided these coffee beans and we fell in love with them! So much so that we purchased the exact coffee machine and these beans to go with! They’re so smooth and delicious, we’re not avid coffee drinkers and sometimes struggled with bitter coffees, this Red Stag is the perfect all rounder and has received many compliments for our family & friends when they’ve tried this. Very enjoyable espresso, order arrived quickly, just under 1 week from roasting date. Been producing a good espresso, nice crema, I have as a cortado or flat white and holds up well with milk. Have 1kg of beans to enjoy 👍 nice packaging too!

Coffee first naturally, beautifully balanced and flavoursome bold and fruity- yup! with a chocolatey aftertaste - yup! the aroma is gorgeous. I went from a Mocha pot to filters/pour over method which for me, suits the coffee and my taste buds.
Secondly Glenn Lyon love the Bcorp. And local support it gives

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm sad to hear that you weren't a fan of the Red Stag Espresso. The coffee that you mentioned is likely quite a bit darker roasted than any of our coffees would be (though you were right to go to Red Stag if you like darker roasts as that is the darkest of all our coffees).
As the coffee that you mentioned is a single origin Peruvian you may like our Peru Organic Salkantay or our True North (which is currently Peru El Conjuro) better. If you decide to try them, just keep in mind that they will likely be lighter roasted than your usual coffee. You can find all of our Peruvian coffees here:

It’s a really good coffee. Proper rich, dark roast but not harsh or bitter like some can be. Just smooth and easy to drink.
I’ve been using it in the Aeropress and it comes out great every time. Smells brilliant when you open the bag as well. Definitely buying again!

This is the best espresso that we've tasted in quite some time. I love it as an oat latte, my husband loves it as an americano. Highly recommend giving it a try!!

We like Red Stag coffee after each meal as it works well in a flat white and an espresso. It’s a smooth but robust flavour. We have tried many other artisan roasts but have settled on this one for all our coffee requirements.

I'm glad you like the Red Stag Espresso for the most part. If you want to get in touch I may be able to help you tweak your espresso recipe to get a slightly stronger shot! Generally speaking, increasing your dose or making your grind a bit finer should help you increase the total dissolved solids (the fancy term for strength) in the cup, but I can get into more detail if you are able to share the machine, grinder, and recipe you're using.
If you didn't already know, 'strength' is incorrectly used by big coffee companies as a synonym for 'darkness'. Our Red Stag Espresso is a medium roast so it definitely won't have the roasty flavours that you might expect from a dark roast (if that's what you're looking for).
