Join us in celebrating the launch of 'Dares Paradise', a new translation of the epic eighteenth-century Scottish Gaelic poet, Alasdair mac Mhaighstir Alasdair (published by Princeton University Press). Translator Taylor Strickland who has recently moved to Aberfeldy will be presenting the book on the night and copies will be available to purchase.
The book features Allt an t-Siùcair, which is a celebration of the environment around Ardnamurchan. The second poem, Birlinn Chlann Raghnaill, is a shorter sea-epic about a crew fleeing Scotland's South Uist to endure a storm and seek shelter in Ireland.
Following the book launch we will be treated to some traditional Gaelic songs by the renowned singer Ellen MacDonald, together with guitarist Seán Gray. As the event is supported by the Fèis Thatha we will also be treated to some singing from the Breadalbane Academy Gaelic medium.
The event will be hosted by broadcaster Calum Maclean.
