Guatemala has many microclimates and diverse geographies, which allow each region - such as Antigua, Huehuetenango, or Cobán - to express their own unique flavours and terroir. Local practices and varietals add even more distinction to each area’s cup profile.
Volcanic soils are rich in minerals and are known for draining well, supporting healthy plant growth and vibrant flavours. This soil type is a big reason why Guatemalan coffees often have both depth and clarity.
Expect chocolate and toffee sweetness balanced with green apple, citrus, and subtle spice. These coffees are comforting yet lively, making them very approachable.
This is completely down to personal preference, but in our minds filter or cafetière methods showcase the sweetness and balance of Guatemalan coffee beautifully, but these coffees can also shine as sweet, full-bodied espresso.
