Colombian Coffee

Colombia is one of the most famous and celebrated coffee regions in the world. Colombian coffee is renowned for its sweetness, and bright, juicy character. Often grown across steep and precipitous Andean slopes, these coffees feature red berry, caramel, and citrus notes with a clean, medium body.

Our Sugarcane Decaf is a great example of Colombian coffee’s bright sweet character, and a staple in our roster of speciality coffee.

Archived and out of season products

Speciality coffee is a seasonal product. While we work hard to source our coffee from the same farms each year, there is always variability. These are coffees which we have had in the past and may (or may not) have again in the future.

Archived products are unlikely to come back into stock. This can happen for many reasons, e.g. a limited coffee lot, the farmer no longer grows this coffee, etc.

Out of Season

?

Out of season products are likely to come back into stock next year. Coffee is seasonal and we try to maintain long lasting relationships with the farmers we work with.

Sold out

?

Sold out products are likely to come back into stock soon. This is usually due to a small delay in delivery or roasting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What stands out about Colombian coffee?

Colombia, unlike many other regions, benefits from two harvests each year as well as a network of cooperatives that enhance quality control. Farmers also have access to reliable infrastructure, which helps to maintain the region’s high standards. This means Colombian coffee remains excellent, season after season.

What tasting notes can I expect from Colombian coffee?

Red berries, citrus, caramel, and chocolate are common tasting notes, with a juicy quality and medium body. These flavours are the result of high altitudes, volcanic soils, and cooler temperatures slowing down cherry ripening, which enhances acidity and complexity. Careful washing and fermentation further develop these bright, juicy flavours. The result is a lively, fruit-driven cup that remains balanced and approachable.

What is ‘panela’ sweetness in Colombian coffee?

Panela refers to an unrefined cane sugar commonly used in Colombia, and it perfectly describes the rich, caramel–toffee sweetness found in many of the country’s coffees. This natural sweetness complements their vibrant fruit notes beautifully.

Which brew method suits Colombian coffee?

Colombian coffees are some of the most versatile and they perform well across all methods of brewing, from pour-over and cafetière to espresso. Their balance of sweetness and acidity means they shine in any preparation.

How do you source your Colombian coffees?
