Hello Ann,
I'm sorry that you felt that the Red Stag Espresso was too strong for you. You can change your subscription at any time so if you're looking for a coffee with brighter (more fruity or floral) flavours rather than deeper (chocolatey and caramely) flavours then I would recommend trying the West Coast Roast or our Single Origin subscription. Our Red Stag Espresso is always medium roasted to create a sweet, chocolatey flavour with only a little bit of brightness.
The good news is that the word 'strength' is often misused in coffee to mean roast development (e.g. light roast or dark roast). This is a misnomer. The actual definition of strength is how much coffee (the fancy term being Total Dissolved Solids, or TDS) has dissolved into the water in your cup. You can make your coffee less strong in a few ways: reduce the total weight or volume of coffee you use to brew, use a coarser grind, or shorten the time that the coffee brews for. These things will all reduce the strength of the coffee in your cup, but it takes a bit of trial and error.
If you would like any tips for how to best brew our coffee please just send an email to info@glenlyoncoffee.co.uk and we would be very happy to make suggestions based on your individual brewing method!
Happy brewing,
Nick | Head of Front of House
