We’re so excited to be roasting Scotland’s fir We’re so excited to be roasting Scotland’s first sailboat speciality coffee.

Brought all the way from South America aboard the beautiful schooner De Gallant in collaboration with @newdawntraders, our new Colombia Las Brisas has crossed the Atlantic using only the wind.

Not only is it a truly delicious coffee but we love the fact that it also offers a taste of a possible future less reliant on carbon-intensive cargo shipping.

Cargo ships are the backbone of global trade, transporting 90 per cent of the goods we consume. But they are also heavily polluting (if shipping was a country, it would rank sixth for contributions to climate change) and as the climate crisis intensifies, finding an alternate means of shipping coffee across the world becomes ever more important.

We only have a limited amount of this coffee available until next year’s Atlantic voyage!

Always happy days to have Guatemalan coffee back in the roastery and to work with this amazing family and farm for another year. We’re excited to be sending this one out to our August subscribers ✨

We love this photo that GL’s Jamie took of coffe We love this photo that GL’s Jamie took of coffee drying on the patios at Finca Filadelfia, Guatemala a few years ago and are thrilled to be roasting coffee from this farm and the lovely people at @thecoffeebird once again.

Now being operated by the 5th and 6th generation of the Dalton family, Finca Filadelfia was the first farm in Antigua originally harvesting cochineal to produce the fabric dye ‘carmine’ before transitioning to coffee in 1864.

This is a coffee that never disappoints and we are totally in love with its sweet chocolate-y and green apple notes. A real delight!

Finca Filadelfia is our subscription coffee for the month of August and is also now up on our website.

Here at Glen Lyon, we’re always on the lookout f Here at Glen Lyon, we’re always on the lookout for innovative and earth-friendly ways to bring you new coffees while lessening our carbon output.

Sometimes, those forward-looking methods are also the oldest.

That’s why we’re so thrilled to be working with @newdawntraders to introduce Scotland’s first sailboat-shipped speciality coffee: the delicious and ultra-low-carbon-footprint Colombia Las Brisas.

With a cargo of cacao, panela, rum and coffee, the beautiful schooner, Gallant, set sail from the Colombian port of Santa Marta in February crossing the Atlantic to the Azores in 40 days, 100% wind powered!

Not only do we love the fact that this coffee has travelled all the way from South America to the UK by the power of the wind alone but Las Brisas is also an exceptionally gorgeous coffee. We’ve been seduced by its dark brown sugar sweetness and juicy peach and berry notes. We’re pretty sure you’ll love this coffee as much as we do. Available online and from our roastery from today ⛵️
