Variety: Caturra & Catuai
Process: Fully washed and dried on raised beds at Buena Vista Mill
Region: Taypiplaya, Caranavi province
Outside the city of Caranavi, in the La Paz department of Bolivia, small producers from the Colony of Villa Tunari harvest Typica and Caturra varieties of coffee cherries at elevations between 1800-1850 meters above sea level.
The cherries are hand-picked when ripe and then transported to the nearby town of Taypiplaya. The cherries are then separated according to quality and transported to our export partner’s Agricafe‘s Buena Vista Mill in the town of Caranavi. Here the berries depulped and fermented before being dried in a mechanical drier known as a “ Stationary dryer” which allows consistent control during drying process.
This lot is from “ late harvest” or cosecha tardia from the highest altitude of Taypiplaya.
